Nanosilica to improve the flowability of fine limestone powders in thermochemical storage units

Fine powders are the cornerstone of new energy storage solutions to assist concentrated solar power plants. Though, their ability behave like fluid can be seriously affected at high temperatures. This work investigates use nanosilica in fine limestone (calcium carbonate, CaCO3) mitigate promotion cohesion forces Experiments were conducted over powder samples with particle sizes around 45μm. The analysis was performed monitoring tensile yield strength as subjected different temperatures and consolidation stresses while varying content up until 0.82 wt%. Temperatures reached a maximum 500 °C (close Tamman temperature limestone), whereas increased 2 kPa. Results show that coating is an efficient solution inhibit enhancement cohesiveness consolidations. A offers better control smooth granular flow regimes production environments.
